Carol J. Harris' Obituary
Carol Juanita Scott Harris, 92, of Fort Myers, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. She was born on February 2, 1930, in Oak Lake, Manitoba. She graduated from nursing school in Brandon, Manitoba. Carol and Howard met in Brandon, while she was attending nursing school.
She married Howard Morten Harris on July 16, 1954, in Springhill, Nova Scotia. Carol, Howard, and her family lived for sixteen years in Buffalo, New York. While in the Buffalo area, they raised their young family of seven children, five boys and two girls. They were very involved in boating and the activities of raising their seven children. After a lifetime of cold weather, the family moved to Fort Myers, Florida.
Outside of family, Carol had a passion for bowling, crafts and giving back to her community. Later in life, after the children were grown, she returned to her love of nursing and worked in Howard’s Internal Medicine office. She was also active with Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to house bound families.
Mom was the ‘Glue’ of a very large family, with seven children and a husband who made it feel like she had eight children to raise. She was a special person, quiet, thoughtful, strong, caring, supportive, faithful, and loving. No matter what the chaos, she always had time for her family.
Her sweet phone calls, voice mails and loving notes she wrote to her thirteen grandchildren will also be missed. For her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she gifted multiple mementos and heirlooms with an attached note.
She will be forever missed by her children: H. Scott (Mary Jane) Harris of Fort Myers, FL, Paul (Sue) Harris of Fort Myers, FL, H. Ross (Dale) Harris of Naples, FL, Brian Harris of Fort Myers, FL, Keith (Molly) Harris of Fort Myers, FL, Joy Stephens of Fort Myers FL and Janice Harris of Fort Myers, FL
Grandma’s loving grandchildren include Lauren Harris, Ryan (Kelly) Harris, Jennifer (Adam) Younger, Ashley (Brad) Talbert, Megan Harris, Morgan (Brad) Bailey, Paige (Jake) Farmer, Tyler (Cathy) Stephens, Brian Stephens, Carly Harris, Carol Galloway, Aaron Harris, and Faith Harris. She also leaves behind her beloved twelve great grandchildren: Brady, Cooper, Emma, Brooks, Hannah, Greyson, Griffin, Quinn, Grace, Scott, Harper, and Blake.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life Howard Harris, her parents: Adam and Juanita, her sisters: Eleanor, Bernice, and brother Ord.
She is also survived by her relatives: Brother Telfer (Dot) and many relatives of the extended Scott family.
