Carol Ann Schmidt's Obituary
Carol Ann (Baran) Schmidt, 64, went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio where she attended Mother of Sorrows Catholic School and moved to Clearwater, Florida where she attended Dunedin Senior High School and graduated from high school in 1976. She then moved to Fort Myers, Florida where she attended Florida Southwestern College and graduated in 1979. She is survived by her beloved husband, William A. Schmidt and her adored daughter, Jeannie Marie Schmidt. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Jerome P. (Carol) Schmidt; Donald (Perry) Schmidt; Gregory (Joan) Schmidt; Kathy (Roy) Hopkins; and Richard Schmidt as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews; cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward A. Baran and her mother Helen E. Baran (Remensky) and sister, Jeannie Marie Baran Brown.
Carol was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and valued her faith in God. She held many positions including a customer service supervisor for Consult-A-Nurse subsidiary of HCA Hospital. For the last 18 years, she was employed by the School District of Lee County. She enjoyed swimming in her pool, playing pinochle, and watching the cardinals play outside in her yard. Carol was a kind person who always had a witty comeback and made the people around her feel special and loved. She is deeply missed.

The visitation will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens (1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907) on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church (2628 Del Prado Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33904) on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery (Fort Myers, FL) Lunch will be served at Mel’s Diner in Fort Myers, FL (4820 South Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33907) following the funeral Mass and burial.
