Caroline M. Auer's Obituary
Caroline M. Auer, 85, passed away April 3, 2014 in Centennial, Colorado. She was born October 14, 1928 in Manhattan, Kansas to the late Garvin and Opal (Chastain) Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Catherine L. Roff and Paula Susan Decker; and brother, Chuck Martin.In 1984, Caroline and her husband sold their home in Longview, Texas and moved onto their sailboat. They set sail across the Gulf of Mexico to Fort Myers, Florida. They then traveled the waterways through and to the east coast of Florida. From there they continued on to the Bahamas. In all, they lived on the sailboat for 13 years. They ended up landing and calling Marathon, Florida (in the Keys) their home. In 1997 they moved to Fort Myers.Caroline was very adventurous, even in her later years. She took classes and earned her scuba license when she was 65 years old. She received her scuba license and her Medicare card in the mail on the same day. At age 70, Caroline became a member of the Sharps and Flats Organ Club.Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Pete Auer and his wife Jayne of Centennial, Colorado and David Auer and his wife Victoria of Pine Bush, New York; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 3 on the way!There will be a Memorial Mass on Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church.
