Carolyn Jean Dodd's Obituary
Carolyn Jean Dodd, 99, of Ft. Myers, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at HealthPark Medical Center. She was born December 6, 1923, in Lundale, WV, to the late Everett and Marion Jones Lipps.
Jean graduated from Farmington High School, Class of 1942. She spent the majority of her career at Westinghouse. Prior to retiring from Westinghouse, she and Albert also owned and operated Dodd's Dairy King in Farmington, WV.
Jean and Albert retired to Ft. Myers, FL in 1981.
She enjoyed a second act during her 80s working in the dining room at Chick-Fil-A in Ft. Myers where she never met a stranger!
Jean was an active member of the Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church and was involved in their knitting group making prayer shawls. She also loved to do volunteer work and over the years worked with numerous organizations including the women's shelter and, more recently, at the food bank.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Albert Dodd, her son Charles Martin and his wife Kathryn, and her sister Barbara Huskin.
She is survived by her stepson Robert Dodd; grandchildren: Chuck Martin (Barbara), Julie Roposh (Frank); step-grandchildren: Richard Dodd (Pam), and Robert Dodd (Leslie); great-grandchildren: Bryce Martin and Ryan, Rayden, Marisa, Cameron, and Heather Dodd; nephew Richard Lee Huskin; and countless wonderful friends in the Ft. Myers area.
There will be a celebration of Jean's life at Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church on April 1 at 2:00pm.
