Carolyn F. Sherman's Obituary
Carolyn Malone Sherman, 86, passed away on February 18th, 2024 at Barrington Terrace in Fort Myers, Florida. Born March 20th, 1937 in Canton Ohio, she was the only child of the late Charles Franklin Malone and Vera Crim Malone. She married the love of her life, M Dean Sherman, on June 18th, 1955 in Galion Ohio and they moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1973 with their daughters. Dean proceeded her in death in September, 1991.
Carolyn was a 1955 graduate of Galion High School. She worked for the School District of Lee County Florida as a kindergarten assistant at Villas Elementary School. She retired in 1999 but continued to substitute when needed. Many fond memories and stories came from these working years where she was touched by daily life with these children.
Carolyn was a woman of faith in Jesus. Her family knew her love through frequent visits, phone calls, and hand written notes in the mail for every possible occasion...usually with a half folded five dollar bill taped inside. Carolyn was supportive and loved her people immensely and unconditionally and she always reached out to those less fortunate. Her love for family and passion for everyone sticking together was unmatched. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family, shopping, dancing and reading a good book.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Lee Ann (John) Goss, Fort Myers, FL; and Kay Lynn (Ralph) Leigh , Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Goss, Jaime (Matt) Butcher, Jordan (Shannon) Leigh and Jessica Leigh; great grandchildren, Linley, Annie, Luke, Silas, Harper and Charlie. She is also survived by sister-in-law Peggy Yuhas Sherman, Sandra Carson and a brother-in-law Russell Carson.
A great grandson, Elijah Butcher, and a brother-in-law, Darrell Sherman, proceeded her in death
The family would like to thank the staff at Barrington Terrace and the staff at VITAS Healthcare for their exceptional care she received in the last few months.
A service and celebration of life will be held in Galion, Ohio on July 26th, 2024 and burial will be at Crawford County Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions can be made to Dwelling Place Project, a 501c3 organization, which was near and dear to her heart, in honor of her great grandson Elijah. Please note "for Carolyn" in the donation process. Dwellingplaceproject.org/donate
