Sprinkler, Carolyn's Obituary
Carolyn Smith Sprinkler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the age of 83, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Carolyn was born on December 17, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Clara Barton High School; Carolyn was a majorette with Mr. Carter’s band. She later married Fredrick Sprinkler, Sr. and together they built a loving home filled with warmth and cherished memories. Carolyn attended Medgar Evers College for Early Childhood Development. She worked at a day-care center, and a caretaker for developmentally disabled children. Carolyn was an Eastern Star and also a member of a women’s church group which sponsored bus trips and cruises as fundraisers for the church. They truly enjoyed themselves…...especially Carolyn.
Carolyn found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a passionate bingo player, always eager for a chance to win, but even more so to share the experience with friends. Her greatest love, however, was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, showering them affection and creating lasting memories. She was known for her elegant style – always impeccably dressed – and her incredible talent for cooking delicious meals for her loved ones and her church. Sunday services were an important part of her life, reflecting her deep faith and spiritual devotion. Many will remember her kind hands, always ready to style and care for the hair of family and friends. She never met a stranger, and opened her door to everyone in the neighbor, surrounding areas and state to state. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a generous spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn leaves in her memory, four (4) daughters, Paula Gibbs, Alicia, Kimberly and Krystal Sprinkler; a son, Fredrick “Fred” Sprinkler, Jr. (Maryann); eleven (11) grandchildren, Shavonn Smith, Simone Sprinkler, Lovondia Gibbs, Shantee Chappell, Fredrick Sprinkler, II, Andre Sprinkler, Rawle Gibbs, II, Chanel Chappell, Jalicia Laster, Kylie Crawley, and Amir Harrison; four (4) great-grandchildren, Zanaya Cagle, Alani Henry, Amelia Sprinkler and Astro Sprinkler; son-in-law, Maurice Chappell, Sr.; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Fredrick Sprinkler, Sr.; parents, James and Lezada Smith; her daughter, Karen Chappell; sister, Sonia Smith; brothers, Ronald Smith and James Smith, Jr.; and grandson, Maurice Chappell.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation in her honor on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 1:00p.m. until 3:00p.m.
