Catherine "Catie" Erickson's Obituary
Catherine Ann "Catie" Erickson passed away on July 13, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida, at the age of 35. She was born January 25, 1991, in Anoka, Minnesota, to Ken and Caroline Cassell.
Catie held a bachelor's degree in Spanish with an emphasis in Biblical Studies, but the role she loved most was being a mother. She found her deepest joy at home with her three children.
Above all, Catie loved the Lord. She came to faith in Christ around the age of thirteen, after attending a church retreat, and from that point forward she gave herself to studying Scripture, memorizing it, discussing it for hours with those she loved, and continually seeking to know God's heart more deeply. That pursuit shaped her into a woman marked by humility, gentleness, and grace, qualities she carried into every relationship she had. Catie was a member of Riverside Church in Fort Myers.
Catie was known for her generosity, her endless curiosity, and the wisdom she grew into over the years. She had a gift for making people feel truly heard and understood, and she genuinely wanted the best for others, even those who had hurt her. She loved reading, painting in colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and oil, playing the violin, walking in nature, coffee, animals, flowers, and above all, a good, honest conversation.
More than anything, Catie was proud of her children and to be their mom. She was fiercely protective and endlessly gentle, and she wanted nothing more than for her children to know they were loved without condition, to discover who they were, and to walk the path God had for them.
Catie is survived by her parents, Ken and Caroline Cassell; her former husband, Steve Erickson; her three children, Steve, Annelise, and Isabella; and her sisters, Christina Moe and Kasey Cassell.
