Born on May 24, 1947, in Boston, MA, to Charles and Louise Steward, Charlaine grew up in Braintree, MA, and graduated from Braintree High School in 1965. She continued her education at Colby Sawyer College before embarking on a successful career in retail management, holding leadership positions at esteemed department stores such as Ann Taylor and Bloomingdale’s.
With an innate talent for design and a keen eye for beauty, Charlaine later found her true passion in interior design. While raising her family in Westborough, MA, she became a sought-after designer, transforming homes into dream spaces with her signature style, thoughtfulness, and approachability.
In later years, she resided in Leominster, MA, before settling in Alva, Florida, with Ben, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished family and friendships.
A believer in the power of kindness and human connection, Charlaine had the rare gift of making everyone she met feel truly seen, heard, and appreciated. She loved fiercely, gave selflessly, and carried an unshakable enthusiasm for making the world a better, more beautiful place. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain. Her legacy lives on in the kindness we show to others, in the smiles we offer to strangers, and in the love we freely give.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Charlaine throughout her illnesses, especially Margaret (Greta) Burgoine, whose unwavering support and friendship were a source of great comfort. Special thanks also to the Alva Fire & Rescue District for their extraordinary kindness and dedication.
