Charles A. McLaughlin left this earth peacefully at Cypress Cove in Ft. Myers, Florida on September 14th, at the age of 85.Predeceased by his loving wife Helen and his son Charles James, Charles is survived by his son Richard and daughter in-law Rosemary of Ft. Myers, Florida, his daughter Kimberly and son in-law Matthew of Voorhees, NJ, his grandchildren Richard Jr., Amanda, Nicholas, Patrick, Ian and his great grandson Henry.Charles was born on November 14, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA to James and Genevieve. It was in Pittsburgh where he met his high school sweetheart Helen, who became his bride of 64 years. He graduated from the University Pittsburgh with multiple degrees including a PhD in education. Charles was passionate about his career, dedicating his life to the education of children. He progressed from teacher to principal and later assumed the role of superintendent in school districts in Milford, Delaware and Springfield, PA. At the time of his retirement Springfield named the district administration building in his honor.Following his retirement from the public school sector, Charles initiated the PhD program for education at Widener University. He also taught there for several years prior to fully retiring in Florida. Charles was also passionate about music, golf, travel and was deeply involved in his community.
