Charles Harry Cook's Obituary
Charles Harry Cook was born March 23, 1931, in Waynesboro, PA to parents Harry and Carrie Cook. He had five sisters (Evelyn, Leila, LaRue, Vera, and Mildred) and grew up known as Jack to family and friends. In 1951, he entered the Navy during the Korean War period. He served in the Mediterranean on a heavy cruiser, the USS Macon. He was honorably discharged in 1955 and served in the reserves until 1957. After returning to Pennsylvania, he met and married Mary Beard and soon had a daughter, Debbie. He was employed as a highway inspector for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
In 1964, Charlie and family moved to Fort Myers to work in his father-in-law’s tile business, West Florida Distributors. A second daughter, Dottie, was born shortly thereafter. Charlie worked there until retiring in 1993.
Charlie served as a Boy Scout Leader for a number of years and attended St. Michael Lutheran Church and served on various boards there. He was an avid FSU fan and had season tickets for many years. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends.
Charlies is survived by his sister LaRue, daughters Debbie and Dottie, his granddaughter, Sydney, and numerous brothers– and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Charles on Friday, January 31, 2035 at 10am with his funeral service beginning at 11am. Those who can not attend in person, the family invites you to join virtually by clicking the link below. You may join the zoom call 10 minutes prior to the start of the funeral.
