Charles "Sarge" Morton's Obituary
Charles F. ?Ç£Sarge?Ç¥ Morton, Sr. passed away at home with his family at his side on December 12, 2012. ?Ç£Sarge?Ç¥ was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 7, 1931, a son of the late Melvin and Lula Lyons Morton. Mr. Morton retired in1969 after proudly serving in the U.S. Army for over 20 years of service. He served in both Korea and Vietnam receiving several awards including a Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal w/ First Oak Leaf, Purple Heart and a Vietnam Service Medal with 3 stars. Upon returning from the service he worked and retired from Kroger Meat Plant. Following his retirement he moved to Fort Myers, FL. He was a member of the AM Vets Post# 81, Eagles Lodge #4270, American Legion Post #0336 where he had been a past commander. He is survived by 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren and 7 siblings. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 5 to 7 and Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 12:30 to 1:30PM in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30PM Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
