Charles Britton Munsch's Obituary
Charles Britton Munsch of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, January 28, 2019 following some recent health challenges. He was 91 years old. Mr. Munsch was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on January 15, 1928, the proud son of Mildred Mae (Maloney) and Charles August Munsch. Charlie is survived by his lovein wife, Dorothy Devlin Munsch, sister Marilyn D. Rak, nieces Kanthleen Levy (James), Kerrie Lynn Haskell and great nephew Ryan Petrov Levy.He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, 1951-1953 as a member of a radar warning unit attached to the 102nd AC and WS squadron on the shores of Tripoli in North Africa. He had a long career as a property assessor, beginning with J.L Jacobs and retiring from the state of Rhode Island. As an avid boater, Charlie served on the Board of Directors of the Royal Palm Yacht Club, was a member of the Buccaneers and the Sea Drifters Clubs. He proudly served on the Board of Directors of the Southwest Florida Symphony. Charlie loved to travel, dance, had a great sense of humor and will be truly missed by all of his family and friends.A Funeral Ceremony for Charles will be celebrated by Deacon Rich Spiro at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests will be received for visitation immediately before this ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of this service, those assembled will recess from the chapel for a reception to be held inside the Family Center located on the grounds of adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery. All are welcome to attend. Cremation rites will follow and Military Honors for Charles will be rendered by the Harney Point Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8463 at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 8, 2019 inside the Field of Honor Section of Memorial Gardens Cemetery following which his urn will be laid to rest at the Spirit Memorial.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Southwest Florida Symphony. www.swflso.org, 239-418-1500..
