Charles A. Nave's Obituary
Charles Allen Nave, Sr., 85, of Fort Myers, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013. He was born July 17, 1927 in Sarasota, FL and moved to Sanibel from Bradenton in 1948. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War, II, Past Commander of the American Legion, Post 123, Lion?ÇÖs Club and served as fire fighter, fire chief and commissioner of the Sanibel Fire Department for over 50 years. He also was an avid softball player and was a charter member of the first softball league in Fort Myers and played well into his 80?ÇÖs and was an avid bowler at Beach Bowl and All Star Lanes and was a member of McGregor Baptist Church. Mr. Nave leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 67 years, Goldie M. Nave; his children: Charles A. Nave, Jr. and wife Barbara, Curtis M. Nave and Yvonne Nave Rider; his grandchildren: Charles A. Nave, III, Chet Douglas Nave, Jamie Graziano, Taylor Nave, Cody Nave and Brandi Rider; his great grandchildren: Tabatha, Abbygail, Rachel, Charles, IV, Ethan, Jack, Ryan and Daniel and his sister, Marietta Holley. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Yolanda M. Nave and his grandson, Chip Daniel Nave. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 18, 2013 at Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL with a reception to follow.
