Charles E. Webster's Obituary
Charles E. (Chuck) Webster passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 13 2015.Chuck was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 4, 1926. He attended Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, MI, where he played football and basketball, and was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He met his future wife and love of his life, Maryrose Kearsley, while at Hillsdale. Chuck graduated with a business degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and shortly thereafter, he began his career with Texaco. He held several positions at Texaco over 35 years, and he and family moved throughout the Midwest as his management responsibilities increased. Chuck served as a regional chairman of the American Petroleum Institute during his last years at Texaco, and in addition, he was proud to have been appointed a Kentucky Colonel by the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.Shortly after he retired from Texaco in 1988, Chuck and Maryrose moved to Ft. Myers and enjoyed many happy years of golf, bridge, family and close friendships. Chuck volunteered for several years, including as Chair, for the annual Red Sox Celebrity Classic golf tournament held at the Forest Country Club to raise money for Lee Memorial Children’s hospital (now Golisano Children’s hospital). In addition, Chuck served in leadership positions, including President, on the Forest Property Owner’s Association Board.Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his two brothers.Chuck is survived by his son Chuck Jr. (Lesley), daughter Kathy (Randy Russell) and son Ken, along with his grandchildren Stuart, Elizabeth, and Sarah Webster and Matthew Russell, and grand-grandson Aiden Howard.The family would like to thank Kelly Dean and Mary Caputo, long time caregivers who treated Dad with skill and kindness.A celebration of life will be held at the Forest Country Club on July 11 from 3-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Golisano Children’s Hospital, PO Box 2218, Ft. Myers, FL 33902.
