Charlotte Povia Kelly's Obituary
Charlotte Povia Kelly of North Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of New York, New York, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 in Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, Florida. She was 83. Charlotte was born June 29, 1932 in Yonkers, New York to the late Joseph and Muriel Gaut Povia. After graduating in Miami, Florida, She returned to New York City and established her career as a member and Opera Singer with the New York City Opera. Her career as a mezzo soprano lasted from 1955 through 1968 before retiring and focusing on her family. She enjoyed her career in music and was particularly fond of her role in Madame Butterfly by Puccini. She also enjoyed being a member and spending time with the ladies of the Red Hat Society. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Lee Kelly; her daughter, Sabrina L. Kelly; and her brother, Lawrence P. Povia. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
