Ciro Eugene ?Ç£Gene?Ç¥ Cerra, 88, of Fort Myers, passed away November 22, 2012.?áHe was born August 16, 1924 in Allston, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Albina (Scipione) Cerra.?áIn addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Rona; daughters, Robin Coles, Harriet Grenier and her husband Michael, Alaina Dempsey and her fianc?? Phil, Michele Barney and her husband Joe; sons, Wayne Cerra, Mark Cerra and his wife Marilyn and Barry Cerra and his wife Cynthia; brothers, Joseph Cerra and Ernest Cerra; 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Gene came to Lee County in 1991 from Woburn, Massachusetts.?áHe loved to play pool and golf and wood working.?áHe was a life member of the American Legion, VFW, Combat Infantry Association and the Bonita Men?ÇÖs Club.?áHe was also a member of the Southwest Chapter of ABATE.?áHe served our country in the US Army and was in 3 major battles in Germany with the 97th Infantry.?áHe earned a Bronze Star among several other medals. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida 33907.?áFuneral will begin at 1:00 PM.?áInterment will follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. ?á?á Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.?áCondolences may be left online at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
