Clara Fabiana Olson's Obituary
Doctor Clara Fabiana Perez-Palacio Olson, 92, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away February 2, 2014 in Fort Myers, Florida. Clara was a resident of Fort Myers since 1969. A Memorial Mass will be held at Church of the Resurrection on Cypress Lake Drive with Monsignor McNamara officiating on Saturday, February 8th at 10:00 am. It will be followed by a Celebration of Clara’s Life at 9131 College Parkway, #150, Fort Myers at 12:30 pm. Clara was born in Holguin Oriente, Cuba to Manuel and Clara Perez on Friday, January 20, 1922. She attended University of Havana where she graduated with a PhD in Pedagogy. Clara was also an accomplished pianist, having earned her title as Professor of Music Theory and Piano from the Conservatory of Music “Rafol” of Camaguey, Cuba. She was a brilliant concert pianist, touching many hearts with her classical and contemporary piano pieces. In 1961, Clara and her family fled from communistic Cuba to make their home in the United States, where she later became a U.S. citizen. Clara taught private and public schools in Cuba and the United States for 50+ years, finally retiring from Cypress Lake High School in 1987. She was a member of Church of the Resurrection. Clara enjoyed piano, playing card games, dancing, music and spending time with her family. Clara is preceded in Heaven by her parents, Manuel and Clara Perez -Palacios and her husband, Earl Olson. Always a kind, and pure spirit, Clara will be missed by her younger sister Juanita Silvestre of Melbourne, Florida, son Edward Diaz and two daughters, Chris Adams and Carmen Diaz. Clara has 8 grandchildren, Eddy, Eric, Christopher, Cristina, Nicholas, Jason, Maria and Benjamin and 8 great-grandchildren: Eddy, Isabella, Anthony, Vincent, Alexander, Aviana, Nicholas, Otto.
