Gene Crawford's Obituary
Gene Crawford, 76, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away Nov. 1, 2011. Gene, a native Floridian, was born in Labelle, FL. in 1935. In 1957, he married his wife Linda Dukes and they enjoyed 54 years of wonderful marriage. Gene attended Florida Southern College, spent two years in the Army, and the next 18 at Lehigh Development Corp. Gene and Linda then moved to Chimney Rock, NC where along with Linda’s sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Pentaude, purchased and ran “The Esmeralda Inn”, a historic B & B. Local caterer “Chef Bill”, Gene’s nephew, was a contributing factor in the B & B’s success. In 1983, Linda and Gene returned to South Florida. Gene ventured to sales again, only this time instead of real estate, it was cars. Gene retired in 2007 and enjoyed gardening, cruises, reading, and travel.Gene is survived by his beloved wife Linda, son Steve, daughter Tammy, daughter-in-law Amy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children.Funeral services will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 4 PM Friday, November 4, 2011 with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.?á Friends will be received from 3 PM until the time of the service.
