Dafinka L. Baker's Obituary
Dafinka Louise Baker of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, June 13, 2021 following some recent health challenges. She was born February 23, 1940 and was 81 years old at the time of her death.
Dafinka was a beautiful, funny, and creative woman who loved her family and was loved by many. She enjoyed a career as a hairdresser for over 30 years, operating her own salon, Dafinka’s House of Beauty, in Downtown Fort Myers. Being born and raised in Fort Myers, Dafinka was able to pour a beautiful, long lifetime of love into her community that loved her right back for her kind heart and easy humor.
Dafinka was multi-talented, enjoyed crafting gifts, cards, and yearly Christmas ornaments for her children and grandchildren. She cooked the most brilliant meals, always bringing her loved ones together over dinner. She was an incredible mother, starting from when she helped raise her three younger brothers, to having her own children, and becoming a beloved “mammur” to her own grandchildren as well as any of their friends that were lucky enough to meet her. She was abundantly kind and generous, always ready to do anything she could for the people that she loved. She cared deeply about those who were close to her. She never missed a call, unless her phone was acting up, but as soon as she could she would call right back.
Dafinka never took life too seriously, enjoying every moment she got to spend with the people who meant the most to her. She was funny and witty, which she passed along to her children. Everyone loved being around Dafinka. She would go on lunch dates with her longtime friends, the 58ers, sometimes to a matinee show at the Broadway Palm. Dafinka also loved having dinners on Sanibel Island to watch the sunset with her husband and children. She enjoyed vacationing on cruises and hitting the nickel and dime slot machines at Seminole Casino in Immokalee. After both her and her husband’s retirement, the pair bought a cabin in Jasper, Georgia, where they would spend summers close to her brothers and where her children and grandchildren would visit them over summer break.
Dafinka’s life was full of love, laughter, generosity, and beauty, which she fostered in everything she did. She constantly gave her time and energy to show her love to her family and friends. The joy she carried with her will live on in the hearts and lives of those who knew her, and she is deeply missed.
Dafinka is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert of Fort Myers,FL; four children, Kerri Fullon of Ft Myers, FL, Robbie Baker(Shelly) of Ft Myers, FL, David Baker of Ft Myers, FL and Amy Lai(John) of Ft Myers, FL; her siblings, Floyd Jones(Sharon) of Canton, Ga, Homer "Bill” Jones (Jan) of Ft Myers, Fl, George Jones (Starlet) of Gainesville, Ga, Davetta (Joe) Eysther of Jennings, Fl and Mark (Dee) Jones of Cape Coral, Fl; eight adored grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Braxton, Noah, Emma, Cayden, Amelia and Karli; as well as many extended family members.
