Danny Lee Fluharty's Obituary
Danny Lee Fluharty, 74, cast his final line on January 11, 2025 passing away peacefully at home. He was born September 28, 1950, to Robert and Eleanor (Hubbard) Fluharty in Easton, Maryland. Raised in Fort Myers, Florida, Danny eventually made a second home in the Florida Keys, where he spent countless hours fishing the turquoise waters and diving for lobster, two of his greatest joys. He was happiest on the water or sharing fishing stories with family and friends.
Danny moved to SWFL in 1960 and started his career in the grocery store business followed by many years as a builder. As the founder of Dan Fluharty, Inc. and later, partner in Fluharty Monroe Construction Inc., Danny’s work left an imprint on Lee County and beyond. His impact is not only etched in concrete, but also in the hearts of those that knew him.
Danny’s warmth, humor, wit, and one-liners will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen; his children, Jason (Rebecca) Fluharty, Debbie (Steve) West, Greg (Amy) Napoli; grandchildren, Zach (Shelby) and Josh West, Nicolas and Anthony Napoli, Addison, Hayley, and Sydney Fluharty, great-grandchildren Liam and Lainey West. brothers, Gary (Mary) and Brent Fluharty, and his nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to share fishing stories at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 10am-11am followed by service beginning at 11am.
Rest in peace, Danny. May the waters of heaven be calm, and the lobster and fish plentiful.
