Darrell William Copping, 89, a resident of North Ft. Myers, FL since 1961, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born March 5, 1930 in Muncie, IN to Max and Bertha Copping, now deceased.Darrell retired from the Lee County Sheriff’s office after 19 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife 50 years, Theresa Copping, in 2018.Darrell is survived by his four loving children, Pamela DeArmond (Derek) of Lehigh Acres, FL, Toni R. Mather (Sergio) of Ft. Myers, FL, Terry Hunter (Carl) of Ft. Myers, FL and Daniel Copping (Polly) of Greenwood, SC; his twin brother, Carroll Copping of Ft. Myers, FL and his family; ten grandchildren, Jimmie Lee, Stephanie, Jacques, Bonnie, Sue, David, Steven, Richard, Justin and Nicholas; eight great grandchildren, Noah, Samuel, Travis Jr., Tyler, Mariah, Victoria, Steven Jr. and Dominic; his cherish lady, Cathrin Finn; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33907. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. Entombment will be held privately.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in loving memory of Darrell William Copping to Bokeelia Church of God of Prophecy, 15146 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia, FL 33912 or Fallen Officers of Lee County making check paybable to Lee County Sheriff’s Office; in memo line write Fallen Officer’s Fund and mail to 14750 Six Mile Cypress Pkwy, Ft.
