Darrell Eugene Mounts' Obituary
Darrell Eugene Mounts of Estero, Florida, more affectionately known as "Dig" by his wife and "Diggie" by his family, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, December 2, 2021 while receiving care at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He was 72 years old.
Darrell was born in Matewan, West Virginia on November 14, 1949 and was the proud son to Yorkie Elizabeth (White) and Charles Eugene Mounts. He was a Veteran of the United States Army who was deployed for combat operations during the Vietnam War and was elevated to the rank of Sergeant (E5) prior to being discharged. He was married to and leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Jane Ann (Davis) Mounts; his treasured sons Darrell E. Mounts II (Lucy) and Jeremy J. Mounts; his beloved grandchildren Darrell E. Mounts III (Kali) and Emma E. Hubbard (Jaron) and his trusted brother Roger D. Mounts (Frances). Darrell also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, a large extended family, his faithful canine companion, Molly and a great number of others who were proud to call him a friend. He will warmly remembered and fondly missed by everybody he knew.
A Visitation for Darrell will be conducted from from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 9, 2021 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. A Funeral Service will be celebrated by Pastor Bob Lockwood at 11:00 AM the following day, Friday, December 10, 2021. Guests will be welcome to gather in the Chapel for one hour prior to this service beginning at 10:00 AM. At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and guests will recess to adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery where the Honor Guard for the Harney Point Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8463 will render Military Honors in recognition of Darrell's wartime service and he will thereafter be laid to rest inside the Field of Honor section of the cemetery.
