David Alan McKelvey's Obituary
David Alan McKelvey, 81, a longtime resident of Delaware County, PA and Fort Myers, FL passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born August 1, 1939 in Meadville, PA to the late George and Naoma McKelvey.
David was a proud United States Air Force Veteran. He had a long career in television and radio broadcasting and retired as the chief engineer at Waterman Broadcasting. In addition, he served as a local pastor in the United Methodist Church and served as pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in the 1990’s. David served as the Corp Sergeant Major at the Salvation Army in Fort Myers, FL for several years where he was involved with ministry of all kinds. He especially loved helping people who were experiencing difficulty, and assisting with the red kettle campaign during the holiday season.
David was an incredibly faithful and loving father, son, husband, brother and friend. His love for the Lord was evident in the beautiful way he lived his life, in his generosity for others, and in the way he selflessly served his community and church.
David is survived by his wife, Sandra McKelvey; his four loving children, Amy Buck (Rick) of Monroe, WA, David McKelvey, Jr. (Linda) of Bonita Springs, FL, Heather Evans (Rod) of Cape Coral, FL and Katy Sanderson (George) of Cape Coral, FL; seven foster children, Yen, Ket, Thang, Chien, Hai, Minh and Binh; ten grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessica, Nicole, Patrick, Josh, Mackenzie, Roddy, Chloe Jane, Aleeya, Olivia and numerous precious extended PhamLe.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Salvation Army, 10291 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33919.
