Dave was one of my HS football team mates at New Philadelphia. I was the center and Dave and Steve Roby were the guards. We were league champions and made it to the AAA playoffs. Dave’s parent’s home on the Hill overlooking Quaker stadium was one of our main hangouts. His parents Jerry and Donna were such wonderful folks. From junior high through high school his basement was where we played countless poker games, shot pool, heard Don McClain’s “American Pie” for the first time. Always generous even in our youth. We lifted weights in that basement and had some great parties. Forever my team mate, we only saw each other at the occasional class reunion but that smile and familiar voice was always wonderful to be around. Condolences to the family and to his kids, your dad was one “badass” football player. God’s speed Dave, your team mates and childhood friends will keep you alive in our thoughts and memories.
