Dean Finethy's Obituary
Dean L. Finethy, Jr., 49, died at Lee Memorial Hospital on July 17, 2010 from injuries sustained in a work-related accident. He was born on October 3, 1960 in Woburn, MA and moved to Barnstead, NH in 1974. He spent the rest of his youth on Half Moon Lake until he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1978. A hard-working and talented carpenter by trade, Dean acquired his skills from his father whom he worked with for many years (Dean L. Finethy & Sons). A true sports fanatic, Dean adored Boston sports teams, especially the Bruins and Red Sox. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, alpine skiing, waterskiing, golf, and riding his motorcycle. When he lived in Alton, NH he was a well-loved Little League Coach of the True Value Hardware and Alton Braves teams for 7 years. In 2003, along with his wife and daughter, Dean moved to South Carolina and then to Florida in 2004. He was employed until his death as a property manager in Fort Myers Beach.Dean is survived by his loving wife, Lindsey and his children David Finethy of Wolfeboro, NH and Chelsea Finethy of Estero. He also leaves behind parents Patricia and Dean Finethy, Sr. of Barnstead, NH and siblings Sharon Waterman, Paula Sykes, and David Finethy. Also 9 nieces and nephews, and step-children, Brett and Jessica Williams. He leaves many friends in both Florida and New Hampshire.Known by his many nicknames: Tebone, Petey, Pete, Deano, Butch, Pops and Finn, Dean was loved most of all for his magnetic personality. He had a contagious enthusiasm for life and the life of those he cared for. He was a great story-teller and friend who was always smiling, laughing and joking. He was very fond of children and easily won their hearts with his playful nature and soothed them with reassuring, kind words. He was sincere and honest and will be greatly missed by those who knew him well.Services will be held on Wednesday, July 21 in Fort Myers, FL at Fort Myers Memorial?áGardens?áCemetery at 11 A.M.
