Deborah L Lafky's Obituary
Deborah L. Lafky, a beloved resident of LaBelle, FL, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Fort Myers, FL. She was 69 years old.
Born on June 22, 1955, in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Deborah was the daughter of the late Alvin and Margaret (nee Perkey) Brannick. She dedicated her life to education and earned a Doctorate in Information Science and Technology from Claremont Graduate University.
Deborah’s adventurous spirit led her to explore the beauty of the United States. She was fortunate to visit 49 out of the 50 states, leaving her mark in each corner of the country. Her love for the ocean extended beyond travel—she was an avid scuba diver, immersing herself in the underwater world.
As a double black diamond skier, Deborah fearlessly conquered the slopes, finding solace in the snow-capped mountains. But her creativity knew no bounds. She expressed herself through art, capturing life’s essence on canvas. From portraits to landscapes and abstract pieces, her paintings reflected her vibrant soul.
Deborah’s compassion extended to animals of all stripes. She found joy in breeding dogs, dedicating herself to several different breeds over the years. In addition she bred Canaries, raised parrots and cockatoos, and even bred seahorses. Her intense fascination and love of nature were reflected in her diversity of passion pursuits over the years.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Carl Lafky; two daughters, Allison Martinson (Tom) of Madison, WI and Caroline Reyes (Neil) of Huntington Beach, CA; one sister, Beth Maier (Fred) of Sellersville, PA; one brother, Alvin Brannick (Carol Tokarcik) of Lake Alfred, FL; two adored granddaughters, Eleanor Martinson and Natalie Reyes.
A Graveside Inurnment will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in the Field of Honor section of Memorial Gardens next to her father.
In the quiet moments, Deborah’s memory will linger—a trail of adventure, a stroke of color, and a heart full of love. She touched lives, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of passion.
