Deforest Wayne Metcalf, Sr., 92 of Fort Myers, passed away August 28, 2012.?áHe was born July 13, 1920 in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Max M. and Emma Louise (Anderson) Metcalf.?á Mr. Metcalf graduated from Wheaton College in 1942 and Hahnemann University Medical School in Philadelphia in 1945.?áHe practiced medicine in Youngstown, Ohio until 1985 when and his wife, Mildred, retired to Florida.?áHe was chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology for 25 years in a 1000 bed hospital.?áHe served as President of the Medical Staff of Youngstown Hospital Association for 5 years.?áHe was active in county, state and national medical organizations and served as a President of the Ohio Society of Anesthesiology for 2 years. He was also active in church related activities at local, conference and national levels.?áHe served on the Board of Directors of North Park College for 5 years, on the Board of World Missions for 5 years, on the Board of the Paul Carlson Medical Foundation and for 6 years on the Executive Board of the Covenant.
