Delmar L. "Bud" Wooten's Obituary
Mr. Delmar (Bud) Wooten, Jr., son of the late Delmar Wooten Sr. and the late MayBell Tiner Wooten, passed away this week. Bud was born on March 26th, 1932 in Fort Myers, FL. Bud was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and wife of many decades, Carolyn Jane Poff Wooten, also of Fort Myers. Bud joined her in Heaven on Monday, March 6th, 2017, surrounded by his family and loved ones at his side.Bud was a member of the National Guard, U.S. Army during the Korean War. His first job was at Belk-Lindsey in downtown Fort Myers which started his life-long career in retail. Bud was employed by Coley Westbrook Men’s and Boy’s Wear for 16 years, before opening his own store, Bud’s Men’s Shop on July 7, 1977. Bud’s Men’s Shop was a cornerstone of the community for many years. After his retirement, Bud worked at Calusa Harbour in the transportation department. Bud was also a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and Araba Shrine. In his younger years, Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing and was happiest in the woods.Bud was the last surviving sibling of his family. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Musselwhite, Pearl Hall, Treathsa Hall , Maybelle Orr, and his brothers, Andrew Wooten and Wesley Wooten.Bud leaves behind his daughter, Sharon (Jack) Scott of North Fort Myers, and granddaughter, Stephanie (David) Penna of Parkland FL, and 3 great-grandchildren, Mason, Aubrey, and Sydney Penna, as well as many nieces and nephews.A Memorial Service for Bud will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Bayshore Community Chapel, 16990 Church Drive, North Fort Myers, FL 33917.
