Dennis L. Johnston's Obituary
Denny Johnston, age 76, was born July 3, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois to Lucille and LaVerne Johnston. Denny left this world to be with his Holy Father in Heaven on September 16, 2023 in Punta Gorda, Florida. Denny graduated from Peoria High School in 1965. He attended Illinois Central College until drafted in 1966 and he joined the United States Marines and served until 1971. Denny and his wife, Sharon were owners of Events, Ltd. In Peoria, IL for 30 years, selling his company in 2019. His company produced and managed Home Shows, RV & Camping Shows, and produced Corporate Parties in Illinois. Denny and his wife, Sharon were professional Santa and Mrs. Claus for 30 years.
Denny was a very active Christian and his most prized accomplishment was helping people have a closer relationship with Jesus. Denny was a regional advisor for the Alpha Christian program and led this program for six years in various Churches. He was a director of the Christian Camping Program and lead Services at the Kentuckiana Campground. Today, one of Denny’s sermons will be read as part of the program.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents Verne and Lucille Johnston and one sister, Beverly Dwyer. Between his wife Sharon and himself, he leaves behind five children, Tim Mason (Lori) of Urbandale, IA; Tracy Mason of Urbandale, IA; Erika Poch of Dunlap, IL; Jason Johnston (Megan) of Peoria Hts, IL; and Cameron Lacy (Jim) of Chicago, IL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
