Dennis John Oben's Obituary
Dennis John Oben of Fort Myers Beach, Florida passed away peacefully while at the hospital. He was 70 years old.
Dennis was born in Toronto, Canada on November 25, 1949, the proud son to Alice (Robinson) and Wesley Oben. He was a lover of the outdoors and from his early years on was an avid fisherman. In 1980, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Tampa and remained there until 1984 when he relocated a little further south. Shortly after settling in the Fort Myers area, he co-founded Woodland Custom Homes with his brother Donald and specialized in custom residences in Lee County's coastal areas. His vision helped to make Woodland Homes a success and his passion kept him involved with the business right until his untimely passing.
Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Elaine A. (Vasil) Oben; his sons Jason (Tera) Oben and Justin Oben of Cape Coral; stepson Jason Carter of Fort Myers Beach; step-daughter Dawn Carter of Miami; his cherished grandchildren Evan Oben of Tampa and Tyler Oben of Cape Coral; his brothers Donald Oben, and Gary Oben and sisters Rita Oben, Colleen Reeves, Linda Oben and Carolyn Caney. Sadly he was preceded in death by his beloved sister Donna Johnson. Dennis also leaves behind a number of extended family members, countless friends and many others he met along life's journey. He will be always warmly remembered and fondly missed.
