Donald Robert Marshall's Obituary
Donald R. Marshall, “Don”, passed away on January 13, 2021. He was born October 22, 1934 to Frank Marshall and Mary Schultz Marshall. He lived in Stillwater, N.Y. until his retirement in 1989 when he moved to Fort Myers, FL. He was the youngest of 12 children.
Donald attended Stillwater High School and Maria College in Albany, N.Y. He was a medical corpsman in the U.S. Army stationed in Wurzburg, Germany. He came back to work for the Veteran’s Hospital in Albany, and also was a surgical technician at the Children’s Hospital of Albany, N.Y. until 1969. He then took coursework at the State University of New York for his food service certificate and went on the be appointed Director of the Food Service Department for the Children’s Hospital in Albany. Donald was also a consultant to the Nelson House and Saint Margaretta’s Home of the Episcopal Diocese in Albany, N.Y.
After retiring from 23 years of service to the hospitals, Donald and his best friend of 45 years Robert C. Harrington relocated to Fort Myers, Florida. Don worked for the Lee County Schools system in Food Service for 12 years.
He was a member of St. Cecilia Church, also of the Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth degrees for 45 years.
Donald leaves behind many beloved friends and family members to cherish his memory.
Memorial Donations in Don’s honor may be made to St. Cecilia’s Church or the Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers.
