Donald E. Martin's Obituary
Donald E. Martin, 83, of Fort Myers, was called to his heavenly home peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2014. Don was born June 15, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI the only child of Elmer and Helen Martin. When Don was 6 years old, two events happened which were to remain the passions of his life: he saw his first Packer game and sang his first church solo. Don went to Rufus King High School and went on to attend college at Marquette University. He received an advanced degree at Metropolitan College in Computer Science. In 1967, he married the love of his life, Harriette Kane. Don was a loving father to his son Don, born October 6, 1953 and a loving grandfather to his grandkids and great grandchildren and a wonderful father-in-law. Don was a very compassionate person with a strong mid-western work ethic and was very active throughout his life. Some of his favorite hobbies were golf, bowling, fishing, traveling, music and horse racing. In his early days, he helped others painting houses and moving. He received accolades for all his work at St. Bernadette’s in Milwaukee in their church festivals, cantering and the church choir. Don is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Harriette A. Martin; his son, Donald Martin and wife, Dee Sutrick of North Fort Myers; his grandsons: David Martin of Milwaukee, Justin Seimits of Santa Barbara, CA and Alex Martin (Sarah Fritz); his granddaughter, Dana Rock and husband, Anthony; his great grandchildren: Aaron, Nathan, Annaka, Issac, Jessica, Noah, all of Lake Mills, WI and Ella Grace of Santa Barbara, CA. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 20115 North Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Entombment will follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Following entombment, friends are invited to the clubhouse at Pine Lakes for a reception beginning at 1:00 PM.
