Donald A. Nicholson's Obituary
Born on Flag Day, June 14, 1936, of British parents, in Puerto Castilla, Truxillo, Honduras.Donald lived for many years in Golfito, Costa Rica.He attended The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, and upon graduation, he joined the regular US Army doing his basic training at For Dix, NJ. He was enrolled in the Army’s Finance Corp., taking advance training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. HE serves Eighteen months in ASCOM City, South Korea, and returned to Fort Dix, NJ., to complete his tour of duty.Upon being discharged from the Army, he worked for Banker’s Trust Co., at One Wall St., NYC and attended evening accounting courses at Pace College.Donald moved to Boston, MA., after a short period in New York and was employed at the Geo. Wm. Bentley Co., and the New England Electric System. He continued his education in the evening Accounting and Finance program at Bentley College, graduation in 1964.Donald became a citizen of the United States of America in October 1961.He married Caliope Dorothea Giantis of Brighton, MA in September 1964, and together they relocated to Fort Myers, Florida, in May 1966, where Donald joined the Lee County Electric Cooperative until his retirement in 1994.They became parents of two sons, Mark (Sheila) of Harveys, Pa., and Christopher Andrew, now deceased.Donald contributed to his community by being involved in Various civic organizations, his church, St. Hilary’s Episcopal, and as a volunteer at the local hospital.He is survived by his loving wife, Caliope Dorothea and son Mark (Sheila).He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Emma Nicholson, his sister Marjorie Egan, and his son Christopher Andrew Nicholson.Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida 33907 (239) 936-0555.Memorial Contributions may be made to the organization of your choice.View online guestbook at www.fortmyersmemorial.com
