Donald E. Sword's Obituary
Donald E. Sword, 84, of Cape Coral, passed away December 2, 2011 following an extended illness.?á He was born November 24, 1927 in Ecorse, MI and moved to Cape Coral from Trenton, MI in 1983.?á He retired in 1983 from National Steel Corporation where he was Chief of Security for four plants following 38 years of service.?á He was a Navy Veteran, a member of River Rouge Masonic Lodge #511, F. & A.M. and was very active in the Araba Temple Shrine where he was the former Treasurer of the Hospitality Unit.?á He participated in many Shrine parades and the Shrine Circus and was a driver for transporting children to the Shriner?ÇÖs Children?ÇÖs Hospital.?á He was also an avid gardener. ?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á Mr. Sword is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Sword; his children: Donald E. Sword, Jr. (Virginia) of Jackson, MI, Gary Sword (Yongcha) of Cape Coral and Craig Sword of Southgate, MI; his grandchildren: Donald, III, Joselyn and Andrew; his step-grandchildren: Julie, Cathy and Thomas and his great grandchildren: Gwen, Allyson, Landon, Kelsea, Kylie, Garrett, Kadence, Keauna, Willow and Kayla. ?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Masonic Rites conducted by the Cape Coral Masonic Lodge and Military Rites by the United States Navy.?á Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. ?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á?á Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.?á Online condolences may be made at: www.fortmyersmemorial.com.?á Memorial contributions may be made to Araba Temple Shrine in his memory.
