Donald Alfred Watt's Obituary
Donald Alfred Watt passed away at his home on Monday, April 26, 2021, after having recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Donald was born in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from North High School. He was a Navy Veteran who served onboard the battleship Wisconsin during the Korean conflict receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal (Europe), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
Don retired from the service as a US Congressional aide to enjoy his retirement aide in Southwest Florida. Closest family members remarked that Don led a charmed life, filled with family, work, recreation and travel.
Don most distinguished himself in his role as a wise and loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He made life an adventure for everyone who knew him as he fulfilled all of his dreams. He built many houses in his lifetime as the family grew. He traveled our country and the world as time went on. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and dancing and loved having family dogs. Don was also active in his community and church.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Doris; his sister, Jackie; and his former wife, Mary Jane. Surviving is his devoted wife, Sharleen; his dear Cha Cha; his beloved older sister, Betty; three loving children, Susan (Larry) Johnson, Steven (Wendy) Watt and Jennifer (Tony) Scalora; seven grandchildren; as well as three great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Friday, April 30, 2021 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907. (239) 936-0555. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in the Serenity Mausoleum's where we will have the United States Navy presenting Military Honors.
