Donna Christine Hayward's Obituary
Donna Christine Hayward, 90, a cherished resident of Fort Myers, FL for over 30 years, and formerly of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Born on September 30, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Wilbur and Christina (Wright) Frey, Donna's life was a tapestry of love, adventure, and creativity. She was a passionate and skilled sewer whose creations warmed the hearts of many. Donna's love for travel took her to wondrous destinations around the globe, filling her life with unforgettable memories and stories. A wine connoisseur with an exquisite palate, she reveled in discovering and savoring fine wines.
Donna shared 53 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, James Hayward, until his passing in 2009. Their enduring love and dedication to one another were an inspiration to all who knew them.
She is survived by her two daughters, Katherine Single and her husband, Bill of Land O’ Lakes, FL and Dawn Hayward-Benitez and her husband, Abelardo of Miami, FL; one brother, William Frey and his wife, Beryl of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Will, Patrick and Daniel; as well as three great grandchildren, Gloria, Moses, Faith and one on the way.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Donna leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and an adventurous spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May Donna's spirit continue to inspire and her memory be forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Donna Christine Hayward.
