Dear Family, I want to express our sincere sympathy to you all. I taught with Doreene for amny years at Orange River School on the same grade level. Her classroom was right next, and we did many things together, field trips, school performances, etc. When she left Orange River we lost touch; in fact, I did not know anything of her illness until reading the sad news in the newspaper. I remember meeting you and David, Donna, at Doreene's and Russ' wedding. Doreene was very sweet, creative, and an excellent teacher. We both stayed late most nights at school and would walk out together for safety's sake. Our principal, Mr. Richard Herring, drove a red Mustang of vintage variety. One funny thing; we had a hamster in my classroom that would escape the cage occasionally, and would manage to get behind the partitions . We found him several times by Doreene's loud scream when she went to her closet for something. Our two young sone went to Orange River and would help us after school while waiting to go home, do homework, etc. We heard a blood-curtling scream one time, and son Mike ran next door to Miss Holdcraft's classroom. He found her on top of her chair with a cockroach big enough to saddle circling on the floor at her feet. From then on, Mike would go rescue Miss Holdcraft whenever we heard a scream! We are all so sad that she is no longer with us, but know she is one of His angels now watching over all, and with Rusty. Joan & Spence Vigneau, Mike, and Eddie
