Doris M Bollenbach's Obituary
Doris M. Bollenbach, 93, a resident of Lehigh Acres, FL since 1992, formerly of Florence, MA, passed away Sunday, July 24th, in Cape Coral, FL. She was born November 19, 1928 in Chicopee, MA to the late William and Wilfreda (Gauthier) Mitchell.
Doris was predeceased by her first husband, John Smart, and her second husband, Robert Bollenbach. Doris is survived by her sons Robert Smart (Gayle) of Harwich, MA and Brian Smart (Anita) of Tampa, FL; one sister Claire (Pat) Mitchell of Longmeadow, MA; and predeceased by her brother Richard Mitchell. She had 3 loving stepchildren; Robbin Zarbo (Christopher) of Sunnyvale, CA, Sandra Fidalgo (Art) of Suffield, CT, and Mark Bollenbach (Patricia) of Haverhill, MA; as well as seven grandchildren, Kristen (Jeff), Andrew, Matthew, Nicholas, Noel, John and Daniel; and two adored great grandchildren, Lily and Levi.
Doris retired after a career in banking and retail (People’s Bank and Steiger’s Department Stores) in Holyoke, MA.
She was devoted to her faith and actively involved in her church, especially the bread ministry where she served for nearly 20 years. She touched many lives with her vibrancy, enthusiasm and humor, and created strong bonds keeping close friendships over the years. Travels included multiple Caribbean cruises and family vacations to iconic cities as well as participation in the Southwest Florida Symphony and community involvement with the Beaconeers! An avid shopper, Doris always brought style and grace wherever she went.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 26, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church, 705 Leeland Heights Boulevard E., Lehigh Acres, FL 33936. Inurnment service to follow at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907. In lieu of flowers, donations to her beloved church would be appreciated.
