Doris Fidella Zona's Obituary
Doris Fidella Zona, 85, of Nappanee, IN passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa, IN. of natural causes. She was born on August 8, 1931 to Clarence and Eva Garver in Sharon, PA. She was married to Charles P. Zona I for 58 years. She moved to Florida in 1952 and then to Indiana in 2006. She is survived by her adult children; Eva Marie Stalnaker (Bob), Nicola Frank Zona (Carol), Charles Paul Zona II, Sondra Lee Diener (Rex), Sherri Lynn Zona and grandchildren; Nathan Shaeffer, Jason Shaeffer, Denny Jenkins, Michelle Tillerson, Chris Zona, Paul Zona, Kelsey Ziegler, Corey Diener, Zachary Baxter and numerous great grandchildren. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lauretta Glass, her beloved husband Charles Paul Zona I, and most recently her great grand daughter Cheyanne Short. Doris Fidella Zona was an extremely giving person. She was a very selfless individual who ALWAYS put the needs of others above her own. She was a loving mother and very devoted wife. She loved to sing and in earlier years sang in church choir. She put herself through nursing school at the age of 50. She worked throughout the next 25 years in hospitals, private care preemie babies and at The Pines Retirement home here in Fort Myers. She was a self-driven person who could accomplish anything. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her beloved Chuck. She never ever put a value on material things but always taught to store our treasure in heaven by having a personal relationship with Christ. That was Doris and Charles’ number one prayer for their family; to ALL come to Christ. She was a strong prayer warrior and consistently prayed for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always the first to admit she wasn’t always the best mom and had much regret for some of those harder days with her children, but learned from it and tried to move on. She adored her husband and even through the ups and downs of life, they were married 58 years until he passed into heaven 10 years ago. She lived the remainder of her life after that with her daughter and son-in-law in Indiana until about 2 years ago when she needed to move into a full care facility at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was the sunshine to everyone in the nursing home. She always had a smile on her face and a very cooperative disposition. She was loved by all the staff. She was ready to go be with her Lord and all her family that passed before her. May she rejoice, celebrate, praising and worshiping at the feet of Jesus awaiting all others to come. Graveside services will be 2:30pm Friday, February 10, 2017 in the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907. Online condolences and memories may be shared on her tribute page at www.fortmyersmemorial.com. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is serving the family.
