Dorothy I. Bayer's Obituary
Our hearts are sad to announce the passing of a much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Dorothy I. Bayer of Fort Myers, Florida formerly of Pittsburgh, PA on May 23, 2020 at age 92 at Discovery Village. Dorothy was born to Walter an Margaret Lewetag on February 6, 1928 in West Deer, PA where she met her late husband, Raymond Bayer. After raising their children in Pittsburgh, PA, Dorothy and Ray moved to Fort Myers, FL where she enjoyed traveling, singing and dancing, socializing with her many friends and playing cards with her grandchildren. She was a loving, kind person who always put others ahead of herself.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond F. Bayer, Sr. Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter Beverly (Ronald) Traupman of Fort Myers, and son Raymond (Kathy) Bayer of Fort Myers. Dorothy is also survived by her brother Arthur (Patricia) Lewetag. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Edward, Walter and Mary Ann. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Michael (Deanna) Fortier of Fort Myers, Andrew Fortier of Fort Myers, Lisa (Jennifer) of Alabama, Megan Keenan of Fort Myers, Steven (Connie) Bayer of Cape Coral, and Ronald (Shelly) Traupman of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren, Michael, Ciara, Elisabeth, Trinity, Mia, Mikhail, Kayla, Taylor, Madison, Ian, Jacob, Allison, Elizabeth, Gemma and Robert and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy will be in our hearts forever.
A Graveside Service for Dorothy will be celebrated by Pastor Bob Lockwood at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 23, 2020 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the service and to observe appropriate social distancing guidelines during Dorothy's funeral ceremony.
