Dorothy J. Haggstrom, age 93, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Dorothy J. Haggstrom (fondly known as “Dot” and “grandma Dot”) was born on January 22, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Nanna Axelson, from Trollhattan, Sweden. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Russel W. Haggstrom who passed away in 2003. Russel was the love of her life and they were married for 61 years. Dorothy enjoyed playing the organ, singing hymns and spent many years in the church choir. Dorothy lived most of her life in Illinois and Florida. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling and loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Nancy Burch of Longwood, FL; her daughter Carol Hofmann, of Belvidere, IL; her grandchildren, Debbie (Rich) Fields, Kristin Harbest, Diana Rogers (Jeff), Brian (Dana) Hofmann, Brad (Lindsey) Burch, and Eric Hofmann (Lindsey); her great grandchildren, Nick, Hannah, Sue, Allison and Caylee and step great grandchildren, Mikayla, Adam and Luke. Memorial services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Monday, January 6, 2014 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Private inurnment will take place at a later time in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
