Dorothy J. Wyatt's Obituary
Dorothy J. Wyatt, 98, of Cape Coral, FL passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born September 28, 1921 in Laurel, MS to Thomas and Mary Burdette, now deceased. Her family moved to Fort Myers when she was just a young child and there she graduated from Fort Myers High School. She married Joseph Wyatt Sr. and traveled the world with her husband as his base assignments changed. Upon returning to Fort Myers she worked as a teacher’s aide at the Riverside School. In her later years she lived in Plattsburgh, NY and Sumter, SC before recently returning to the Fort Myers area. Dorothy was highly spiritual and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She loved her family dearly and always put them ahead of herself. Her favorite past time was spent sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Elizabeth Wood in 2018. She is survived by her loving children, Cheri Mulling (Tom) of Lehigh Acres, FL and Joseph M. Wyatt, Jr. (Tracy) of Dalzell, SC; four grandchildren, Michele Lyons (Al), DJ Wood (Alika), Trey Mulling (Katlin) and Tanner Mulling; five great grandchildren, Ashtin Morio, Kody Morio, Jensen Wood, Luke Mulling, Tucker Wood, and step great grandchild Nichole Lyons; one step great-great grandchild Ryley Vanderlinden; as well as several nieces and nephews.A Graveside Service will be held 8:00 AM, Friday, November 29, 2019 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL.
