Douglas Carlyle Smith's Obituary
Douglas Carlyle Smith of North Fort Myers, FL (formally from Harvard, IL) passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. Douglas was born on October 7, 1945, in Hiram, Kentucky to Chris and Martha (Hamilton) Smith. He was the fourth child of nine brothers and sisters.
He moved to Harvard, Illinois and worked as a Manager for Admiral TVs for many years. He eventually retired from Knaack Manufacturing as a Welder, working there for over 20 years. He often spent time at the Moose, where he was a lifetime member. His biggest joy was cooking and spending time with family and friends. When he retired, he moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. He also enjoyed taking golf cart rides and seeing his friends every day.
Douglas is survived by his daughter Kellie Spencer (Randy Gerdes) of North Fort Myers, FL; his grandchildren; Bryan Spencer of Harvard, IL, Tyson Spencer of Kirkland, IL, and Michael Spencer (Amanda Garcia) of Wonder Lake, IL; his great grandchildren; Cristian and Noah Spencer; his brother, Phillip Smith of Barbourville, KY and his sister, Kathy Smith of Gray, KY, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chris and Martha, his siblings Chris Smith Jr., Emily Elizabeth Powell, Paul Smith, Kenneth Smith, Harry Smith and Sharon Sue Smith.
