Earl Epperson, Jr., 87, of Fort Myers, FL, Sunday, March 8, 2015. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL. Visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to American Cancer Society. Earl was born December 1, 1927 in Miami, OK, the son of Earl and Ruby (Beard) Epperson. He married Marjorie Louise Curry and she preceded him in death. Earl worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Prior to his career as a mail carrier, he was a baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1946 – 1947. He was a member of the Olga Baptist Church in E. Fort Myers. Earl also was an avid fisherman and golfer. Surviving are his children, Gary Epperson of Cape Coral, Mark Epperson of Cape Coral, Donna Jo Wilson of E. Fort Myers; siblings, Roberta, Jerry, Billy Wray, Sylvia, Jeanne, Paul; grandchildren, Lisa, Chad, Chris, Brock, Cara, Michael, Shawn, Markie, Justin, Holly; great-grandchildren, Briana, William, Drew, Alex, Aubrey, Isabella, and Devon. Also preceding in death are his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Frankie. The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Epperson.
