Edward Jacob Bender's Obituary
Edward Jacob Bender, 92, of Ft. Myers, Florida peacefully passed away with family members by his side on Saturday, January 7th, 2012.?áEd had been battling cancer since 2009.?áHe was born on August 13th, 1919 in Cowlesville, NY to Jacob and Eleanor Bender.?áEd served in the Army in WWII.?áHe and his wife resided in East Aurora, NY, from 1949 until he retired from the local phone company with 37 years of service.?áAfter retirement, he and his wife spent their summers in Machias, NY and the winters in Ft. Myers, FL.?áDuring retirement, Ed and Ethel were able to travel golf and bowl.?áOne of his favorite activities was biking.?áUntil November, Ed biked 7 miles a day on his three wheel bicycle.?áHis other favorite pastime was having Ethel bake his favorite ?Çô Apple Pie! ?á Ed is survived by his loving wife, Ethel Hoffower Bender also of Ft.Myers, FL, a daughter Patricia Bender of Springfield, MA, a son Edward Bender and his wife Judith Ann of East Aurora, NY, a grand-daughter Michelle Mayberry and her three sons of Springfield, MA, 3 grandsons, Keith Bender and his wife Kim and their two sons of New Freedom, PA, Scott Bender of Buffalo, NY, and Eric Bender of East Aurora, NY as well as nieces and a nephew. ?á There will be a Memorial Service held at the Veranda of Jamaica Bay Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. ?á A warm thank you to all the neighbors and friends for their well wishes, comfort and meals!
