Edward J. Bennett's Obituary
Edward J. “Jack” Bennett Jr., 81, formerly of Indianapolis, died February 7, 2014. He was born December 23, 1932 to Frances Helm Bennett and Edward J. Bennett. Jack graduated from Park School and Hamilton College and then served in our Armed Forces. He enjoyed a long career in banking at Merchants National Bank. He left there to oversee operations of the Atkomatic Valve Company, a family business. Jack was also a civic leader, serving on the boards of such organizations as the YMCA, St. Vincent Hospital Foundation, Crown Hill Cemetery and Meridian Hills Country Club. He enjoyed a long membership to the business organization Junto. Most recently, Jack resided in Fort Myers, Florida, where he was president of his neighborhood association. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Susanne Horning Bennett. He is survived by son Edward J. (Ted) Bennett III, his wife Gwen and their son Edward J. (T.J.) Bennett IV; daughter Tamara Lynne Dommermuth, her husband Michael and their children Emily and Will; and daughter Amelia Helm Van Soelen and her children Maggie, Hannah and Bennett.
