Edward Joseph Fitzgerald's Obituary
Edward Joseph Fitzgerald, age 77 originally of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday February 23rd, 2026.
Born on Wednesday, July 14, 1948, Ed was a devoted brother, uncle, friend, and colleague. A graduate of Olney High School, Ed is survived by his sister, Florence, niece Jennifer Myers McCarthy, nephew in law Michael McCarthy, 4 additional sisters, 1 brother, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an older brother, and brother in law Thomas Myers.
Before retiring in 2019, Ed worked at IKEA for 15 years and was known for his kindness, sense of humor, strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication. Prior to IKEA, Ed worked in sales, real estate, and he was the owner of a successful deli in the 1980s.
Outside of work, Ed knew how to have a good time. He enjoyed a good card game, a good meal, time spent with family, and the zombie genre - he was an enormous fan of The Walking Dead and he also loved Korean music and culture. He will be remembered for his kindness and his wit.
Per Ed’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes lovingly placed into the Gulf of Mexico in a private ceremony by his sister, niece, and nephew in law.
Ed will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
