Edward Sterling Glasser's Obituary
Edward Sterling Glasser, 92 years of age, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL, after a brief illness. Edward was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on May 25, 1921, a son of the late Charles E. Glasser and Margaruite Maloney Glasser. Preceding him in death besides his parents were his twin sister, Margaruite DeCesar and her husband Clarence ?Ç£Butch?Ç¥, and his sister, Florence Saylor and her husband Howard ?Ç£Howie?Ç¥. He worked for the Railroad Industry as an Electrician until he retired in 1981 from Patapsco & Back Rivers Railroad, Sparrows Point, MD. Edward served his country proudly and faithfully in the U.S. Army Air Corps from May 1940 until he was honorably discharged on September 25, 1945 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in Iceland and England, where he met and married his wife Joyce, during World War II. Edward had resided here in Fort Myers, FL for the past 24 years, starting as a ?Ç£Snowbird?Ç¥ until he became a full-time resident. He previously lived in Dundalk, MD and Allentown, PA where his children were born. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion as well as St. Rita?ÇÖs Roman Catholic Church in Dundalk, MD. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 68 years, Joyce Patricia Glasser nee Carey; his children Barbara Ann Yost and her husband Jack of Pylesville, MD and Edward J. Glasser and his wife Gayle of Kingsville, MD; his grandchildren Nicole Yost and her husband Chad Isom of Bel Air, MD, Krystle Yost and her fianc??e Michael Dallas of York, PA, Rachel Glasser and Garrett Glasser both of Kingsville, MD; his great-granddaughter Breanne Isom; his siblings Alberta Derolf and her husband Donald of Cape Coral, FL and Charles Glasser and his wife Connie of Allentown, PA. Edward was a devoted and loving husband and he and his wife loved to dance. Words that his children and grandchildren use to describe ?Ç£Dad/PopPop?Ç¥ are: caring, kind, understanding, patient, funny, always a gentleman, role model and loved. His family is going to miss him terribly; he cherished his family and they cherished him. They said ?Ç£We now have our own Guardian Angel looking over us?Ç¥.
