Edward G. Vogt's Obituary
Edward George Vogt Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully in Fort Myers, Florida with Hospice in the comfort of the home of his daughter, JoAnne Marsh. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irma E. (McCormick) Vogt, on December 1, 2016 and was also preceded by daughter Irma E. Vogt, parents Theodore and Barbara (Frenzer) Vogt, siblings Lucille (Frank) Ghering, Theodore (Eileen) Vogt, Raymond (Peggy) Vogt and Ruth (Robert) DeMaat, parents-in-law, William and Irma (Doran) McCormick and several brothers-in-law.Ed was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 19, 1928 and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1945. He was a graduate of General Motors Institute (now called Kettering Institute). On November 4, 1950 he married the love of his life, Irma McCormick at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Grand Rapids. They were blessed with six children, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Left to mourn the loss of their wonderful father and grandfather, are daughters Barbara (William) Dirkmaat and JoAnne (Paul) Marsh; sons Edward Jr. (Neera Agwal) Vogt, Frederick (Brenda) Vogt and Stephen (Leslie) Vogt; son-in-law Tony Henslee (Irma) and loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and special nieces and nephews.Visitation for Edward will be observed from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2016 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM the following day, Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, 8121 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33919, (239) 481-7171.In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a contribution in Edward’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association Florida-Gulf Coast, 9220 Bonita Beach Road, Suite # 223, Bonita Beach, Florida 34135, (239) 405-7008.At this time the family would like to thank daughter, JoAnn, son-in-law, Paul, granddaughter Shannon and great grandchildren, Michael and Isabella for the wonderful care given to both Ed and Irma.
