Edwin Lopez's Obituary
Edwin Lopez, 52, of Fort Myers, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was born April 29, 1961 in Manhattan, NY. At the age of 17 he moved to Lajas, PR. At the age of 18 he became part of the U. S. Navy where he served for 17 years including his years in the Navy Reserve. He was veteran of the Desert Storm and moved to Fort Myers from Fort Benning, GA in 1996. After his service in the Navy he worked in Storage Technology INC. as a buyer for 4 years in Ponce, PR and in FL, he worked as cargo manager for Delta airlines for almost 12 years, but never stopped being a Navy sailor at heart as he woke up at 5AM every day and maintained his soldier ways the rest of his life, including his haircut. His family and friends will always remember him as a quiet, hardworking and very private man, but an extremely kind and loving friend that everyone could count on when in need. He will be remembered as always smelling good and being in tiptop shape. He was also known for being a quiet ?Ç£jokester?Ç¥ as he had a gift of making every situation light, with his humor. He was blessed to have found another family in Fort Myers Florida; Bill and Nanci Posey, whom he loved deeply. Mr. Lopez leaves to cherish his memory, his only daughter, Valerie Lopez; whom he often called his everything and with whom he had a very special relationship with, his mother, Virginia Lopez of Fort Myers; his siblings: Maximo Lopez (his buddy) and Wanda Pizarro, both of Fort Myers and Virgen Lopez of Lehigh Acres; his nieces and nephews: Max, Tina, Frances, Carlos, Luis, Noemi, Brian and Aidaliz.
